What is the importance of bill of sale for buying a car ?

Friday, June 4th, 2010

Why you need A Vehicle Bill of Sale:

A vehicle bill of sale is a written agreement by which a used auto owner assigns or transfers their rights or interest in the vehicle to the buyer. For used auto sales, having this form will be of great help in the selling process.

A vehicle bill of sale may serve as one of the necessary documents that establishes a buyer’s proof of ownership when trying to obtain auto insurance or prove ownership.

If any problem arises later, the document will help the seller or the buyer to prove their case. In addition, the bill of sale serves as proof the buyer really bought the Car and owns it. And last but not least, the document is what you need for accounting and taxation purposes.

To prevent frauds, the used vehicle is usually not registered without an auto bill of sale form, furnishing correct and verified information and completed in all respects. In case, the seller refuses to record the sale in auto bill of sale form, do not make any deal with him or try to convince him for the same.

Even if the state in which you live does not require an auto bill of sale form to register the purchase of a used vehicle, creating one is good for you. You should also insist the seller to create one so that both the parties are aware of exactly what legal terms they are agreeing to. One can also hire a lawyer to provide legal advice regarding the same. In short, an auto bill of sale form makes buying and selling of used cars more comfortable, reliable, and professional, and should be considered.

The Information usually included in Vehicle Bill Sale

1. Year, Make and Model of the vehicle.
2. Description of vehicle.
3. Buyer and Seller’s names and signatures.
4. Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
5. Purchase price of the vehicle.
6. Odometer reading, etc.

The buyer retains the original copy of the used auto bill of sale, and provides it to the DMV with the other acceptable proofs of ownership required when purchasing a tag.

Additionally, the vehicle bill of sale may be notarized. The Buyer and Seller can make copies of the bill of sale, for record keeping purposes. A bill of sale of a motor vehicle, is not only sufficient proof of auto ownership. So, the vehicle purchaser may need other forms of proof of ownership, such as the vehicle Title.

Where does one find a vehicle bill of sale template or form?

In many cases you may be able to download a car bill of sale that’s printable from the government driver and vehicles services website where you live. This is a nice way to do it because you know that you’re getting the official word and form right from the people who will handle the transfer of your vehicle title. In any case, the net is full of sites with vehicle bill of sale forms, bill of sale templates and bill of sale samples – free or with charge. All you have to do is Google the term your looking for – whether it be a free downloadable template or a sample bill of sale form.

Get to know about terms used in Japanese used car shipment.

Friday, June 4th, 2010

If you are going to buy your dream used car from Japan, you must know the shipment terms before going to final the deal and make payment. You must ask Performa invoice before placing any order or sending payment to know each and every thing about terms and condition of payment and shipment etc. I am explaining you terms which are you using for shipment of used car export from Japan.

FOB (Free On Board)

F.O.B means ‘Freight on Board’ or ‘Free on Board’ with similar but distinct implications. it’s the all up cost of the used vehicle to the point where it is put on board ship in Japan. FOB Included, vehicle purchase cost or price, auction fee, transport & handling upto port of origine within Japan, de-registration and document processing fees and the export agents fee.

FOB specifies which party (buyer or seller) pays for which shipment and loading costs, and/or where responsibility for the goods is transferred. The last distinction is important for determining liability for goods lost or damaged in transit from the seller to the buyer.

CFR or C&F (Cost and Freight)

CFR or C&F stands for cost and freight and it is a pricing term in which the exporter/supplier pays for cost and freight. In another word, the cost of freight is also included in the stated vehicle FOB price of the used vehicle. The CFR term requires the seller to clear the used car for export to buyer.

This pricing term indicates that the cost of the goods, including all transportation/freight insurance costs from the exporter’s yard to the port of departure, as well as the costs of loading the vessel in the quoted price.

A Term of Sale where the seller pays the costs and freight necessary to bring the the used car to the named port of destination, Terms of Sale but the risk of loss of or damage to the goods, as (continued) well as any additional costs due to events occurring after the time the goods have been delivered on board the vessel, is transferred from the exporter to the buyer when the used vehicle to the port of shipment.

On Japanese Car Trade portal you can calculate freight cost of any vehicle and also you can find of freight rates for any port of the world.

CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight) :

“CIF Price Includes the FOB (Vehicle Price) + Shipping freight + Marine Insurance Cost”. A trade term requiring the exporter to arrange for the carriage of used vehicle by sea to a port of destination. A Term of Sale where the exporter has the same obligations as under the CFR but also has to procure marine insurance against the buyer’s risk of loss or damage to the vehicle during the carriage. Usually marine insurance cost is 1% of total of cost of vehicle and freight cost.

Marin Insurance :

Marine Insurance covers the loss or damage of ships, cargo, terminals, and any transport or cargo by which property is transferred, acquired, or held between the points of origin and final destination.
